NSW Greens MPs today offer their sincere condolences to Bernie Banton’s family and pay tribute to one of the most inspiring modern day campaigners for social justice and corporate responsibility.
NSW Greens MPs had the privilege of working with Mr Banton on the asbestos campaign. They were invigorated by his generous spirit, his dogged perseverance and the great integrity with which he conducted his campaign.
The Greens support the State Government’s offer to the Banton family of a state funeral as Mr Banton’s achievements on behalf of James Hardie victims, the union movement and the broader community are profound.
Australia has lost a remarkable man today.
